Why choose a golf course in Wiltshire? Wiltshire is one of Britain’s most stunning counties. With lots of fresh air, fields as far as the eye can see and many areas of outstanding natural beauty, it really is a special place to visit. There is magic in the air too, its no surprise that this is venue for mystical Stonehenge and Avebury Stones. So if you are planning an overnight golfing trip, it just may be the first time you hit a hole in one! No guarantees but strange things can happen in this enchanted county. Here are some of our favourite golf courses in and around the Salisbury area of Wiltshire.
West Wiltshire Golf Club
A golf course designed by famed golf course architect, JH Taylor with an impressive historical pedigree and stunning views of three counties from it’s hilltop position overlooking Warminster. Posing challenges for the short game, this inland links course features small greens and rising and falling approaches.
The fairways are exceptional due to a natural drainage system from the chalky soil in the area. This means that the course is rarely closed.
Finish off a challenging afternoon with a well earned drink at the bar and restaurant where you can enjoy the fabulous views and compare notes with other golfers.
