County cricket is a very different affair and one of Wiltshire’s leading cricket clubs plays adjacent to Cricket Field House. With historic roots dating back to 1854, the first game of cricket was played at the Salisbury ground on Wilton road. The club has since evolved to become one of England’s finest teams.

Having won the Southern Premier league for the past 4 seasons along with a trio of T20 victories, South Wilts is a quality cricket club. Commonly know as the ‘Salisbury Lions’, the team have enjoyed success on and off the field with some significant facility improvements laying the foundations for sustainability and success for future generations of cricketers and cricket lovers.

On Saturdays, there are four senior men’s team but also teams for juniors; both boys and girls as well as a women’s side. There are opportunities for both competitive and social cricket within the community. The junior section is one of the largest in the county and has strong links with the local school community.
